Are you regularly getting UTI’s?

There could be several reasons for this. The first, and easiest place to look would be your daily diet. Are you consuming a lot of proteins? Just to be clear, the following foods are protein rich foods. Go through the list and see what foods you are regularly consuming that are protein rich.

  • Meat
  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Eggs
  • Beans
  • Peas
  • Lentils
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Dairy items
  • Wheat, Barley or Rye products
  • Protein shakes
  • Whey protein
  • Pea protein
  • Protein bars

Protein is only meant to make up to 10 – 15% of your daily calorie intake. And even high level athletes who work out for 5 – 8 hours each day do not need any more than 17 – 21% protein in their daily diets.

We naturally over eat protein in a daily basis and this can cause UTI’s as the protein creates nitrogen when it is broken down int eh body, which cannot escape only via the kidneys and bladder. This puts additional pressure on the system and can easily lead to infection.

Not only that but a high protein diet can also cause IBS symptoms such as stomach and abdominal pain, excess gas, diarrhoea or constipation, acid reflux and bloating.

Could You Be Peri-Menopausal, Menopausal or Post Menopausal?

Another reason you could be getting regular UTI’s is that your oestrogen levels are too low due to going through ‘the change’. It is now well established that hormone regulation – or lack of – can cause vaginal dryness, soreness and a weakening of the uterus which in turn can cause regular UTI infections.

In this case go to and consistently talk to your doctor about this issue, asking them for Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement. They can be expensive but it is so wroth persevering with this avenue as once your hormones are rebalanced a whole host of other symptoms will be alleviated and you will start to feel more normal again, down there.

The sooner you get started on this route the sooner you may get help with it. I wouldn’t normally recommend going to the docs but they are getting better at recognising peri-menopause issues and working with you on this.

Although they are still hopeless with IBS, in general…

Are Urinary Tract Infections yet another symptoms of IBS?

Of course IBS causes many many symptoms which I will list for you below. So it could just be the case that your diet and lifestyle needs a complete overhaul and you need to eat for your bodies requirements, age and lifestyle commitments in order to get the more natural relief you desire.

For example are you struggling with any of the following?

  • bloating
  • excessive and foul smelling gas
  • unpredictable bowel movements (BMs)
  • diarrhoea
  • constipation
  • stomach pain
  • abdominal cramps
  • acid reflux
  • nausea
  • always feeling hungry
  • not wanting to eat
  • poor relationship with food
  • low mood
  • depression
  • stress
  • anxiety
  • weight problems
  • brain fog
  • zero focus
  • confusion about what to eat
  • using IBS meds just to get through each day
  • spending lots of money on ‘miracle’ cures that don’t work
  • trying to stick to the FODMAP diet for the millionth time and getting nowhere

Most women with IBS spend decades trying the get the help they need to get their quality of life back. Often missing vital functions, work, family events, holidays and days out with friends. Not being around for their families or partners due to ill health and becoming a shall of their former selves.

It doesn’t have to be this way as IBS is a relatively simple fix. When you know how…

Misdiagnosis And Other Health Issues

Of course, getting your IBS diagnosis isn’t the be all and end all of your journey. Often women will spend years trying to even get a diagnosis and then be used as guinea pigs for medication combinations hoping to find the magic solution that will fix their problems. This never works as the meds will only ever, at best, mask the symptoms and never get to the root problem to heal the gut.

Healing the body is something we are each capable of doing for ourselves.

Many women get diagnosed with all sorts of other health issues like thyroid issues, fibromyalgia, CFS, ME and spend a lot of time doing stool tests and taking antibiotics for gut bacteria problems that can only be fixed through diet.

This is not to say the body hasn’t started to produce other illnesses. With a weakened gut you have a weakened immune system and the body starts to allow in other illness and creates more health issues.

Have you been diagnosed with other health complications?
Did this begin after you noticed you had stomach problems?
