Helen Waddington

Zen Belly Retreat Leader

Helen has been dedicated to gut health and wellness for nearly a decade, helping people restore their health naturally, quickly, and safely. She has worked with individuals facing a variety of ailments, including psoriasis, fibromyalgia, thyroid issues, chronic fatigue, asthma, ME, MS, ADHD, auto-immune diseases, and cerebral palsy. Her clients have significantly reduced their symptoms and better managed their conditions under her guidance.

Helen’s primary focus is on IBS and other gut health disorders such as Crohn’s disease, colitis, and diverticulitis. Having experienced decades of IBS herself and witnessing her family’s struggles with colitis and diverticulitis, Helen is deeply motivated to find solutions. These conditions can be greatly improved with the right support, advice, and guidance, often to the point of complete freedom from these debilitating conditions.

Her holistic approach combines education, diet, mindset work, and support, helping clients build confidence in their food choices. Helen shares her gut health expertise through Zen Belly Retreats, which aim to improve gut health naturally, boost sustainable energy from food, and nurture the body, mind, and spirit. 

Helen’s Zen Belly Retreat Workshops are unique, blending humour, insight, and education, providing her clients with everything they need to make impactful changes in their understanding and use of food.

Jane Desborough

Wellness Coordinator

Meet Jane Desborough, our wonderful wellness coordinator at Zen Belly Retreats. With over 30 years of experience as a seasoned children’s nanny, Jane is known for her natural empathy, care, and boundless love. Now stepping into the role of Wellness Coordinator for our upcoming retreats, she brings a delightful mix of warmth, compassion, and fun to create a nurturing and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Jane is amazing with people, going out of her way to ensure you are comfortable and happy during your stay. Her friendly and approachable nature makes her someone you’ll want to spend time with and confide in. Jane’s dedication to your well-being is evident in every aspect of her work, from the personal touches she adds to your stay to the genuine care she shows each guest.

Tal Morris

Yoga Teacher

Tal discovered yoga over a decade ago and has been practicing regularly ever since. She loved the connection between her breath and body, reaching a blissful state after each yoga class. Wanting to deepen her understanding of yoga, Tal trained under Yogachara Lalit in 2019, in Cork, Ireland and achieved her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Since then, Tal has taught students of all levels. Her calm, gentle, and intuitive approach ensures that each student leaves her classes feeling grounded. She takes great interest in her students’ practice, finding joy in teaching people of all ages and experience levels. Tal is passionate about seeing her students benefit both physically and emotionally through yoga.

Tal integrates breathwork and meditation into her classes, viewing these elements as invaluable tools for calming the nervous system and releasing physical tension—something essential in the modern world.

 

 

 

Julia Martin

Purple Plumb Catering

Julia is a holistic chef with years of experience in retreats. Her knowledge of nutrition, food energetics and Ayurveda is coupled with a strong emphasis on ethically sourced produce and seasonal ingredients.

Her food is influenced by travel, culture, tradition and her own yoga and meditation practice. This is food that not only tastes great, it is mindfully prepared and full of love, leaving you feeling great too!

The healthy, seasonal, delicious meals will be prepared with love by Julia and her team a great emphasis will be put on nutrition to support both your practice and life.

Melissa Welham

Sound Healer

Melissa of RobynWren Sacred Sounds is a professionally trained Integral Sound Healing Practitioner, having mastered multi-instrument use at The Sound Healing Academy. With over 19 years of experience as a Holistic Therapist, she has dedicated her career to supporting people on their journey toward improved well-being and optimal health.

Melissa offers public and private soundbath experiences, as well as community-based ‘Support with Sound’ sessions, using sound to assist those with specialised needs. Her extensive experience and deep knowledge as both a therapist and sound practitioner enable her to create a therapeutic soundbath journey that is truly transformative.

In her sessions, Melissa skillfully incorporates breathwork and guided meditation, holding the space in a way that fosters deep relaxation and healing. Her friendly and compassionate approach ensures that each participant feels supported and empowered, making her soundbath experiences both impactful and enriching.
